5th of July

To continue the never-ending 4th of July celebrations, we headed to Aaron's parents' on the 5th. The kids hung out with their cousins, played in the pool and on the slip and slide, and ate a whole bunch.

While Ethan was playing on the slip and slide, he tripped over a pair of shoes someone had left laying there and landed on his elbow. At first, we just told him, "Oh, you're okay - go play." But a couple hours later, he was still complaining, so I took him into to the Instacare. They x-rayed it, and still couldn't tell if it was broken because it had a lot of fluid and swelling around it. So they splinted it. When it was re-x-rayed (is that a word?), it ended up not being broken, but he spent 10 days in a splint. Poor kid.

And thus ends the 4th of July posts. Hallelujah!

Did I ever tell you the story about my sis-in-law Lucy and her broken ankle? When she was a teenager, they were all camping and she fell and hurt her ankle. Everyone told her to stop boobing and "walk it off". FOr seriously about a day. Finally, when Corey's mom took her in to have it x-ray'd, it was completely broken. It's become a household joke. "WALK IT OFF! YOU'RE FINE!!" hahahahaha.
