We here in the Wood household love food. Just in case you weren't aware. We also love to try new foods, because, otherwise, you may miss out on some really good food. And we never want to miss out on food. So when our neighbors, the Hunts, told us about the Samoan Flag Festival, we had to go check it out. Josh is from Samoa, and those Polynesians know their way around some food. Aaron is bound and determined that he and Josh are going to roast a whole pig in the backyard. We'll have to see about that. But we did eat some good food at the festival. Who knew that corned beef and cabbage was popular with Polynesians, and that (no offense to my Irish ancestors), they do it a whole heck of a lot better than my Irish family. Oh, and chop suey Samoan style is much tastier than the faux Chinese variety.
We bought the food from some really nice ladies who also run a Polynesian market in West Valley. They were so happy that we wanted to know about the food that the let Aaron come back and look at how they were preparing everything, and then when the kids went back to tell them how much they liked all of it, they gave them popsicles. We also bought something called koko samoa, which is like a Samoan version of hot chocolate. Aaron and the kids loved it. Me, not so much. But we will have to head up to that market and get some more yummy stuff soon.
